What to Expect

Hatha Yoga

Classes include a therapeutic teaching approach enabling those with issues of restriction or injuries to enjoy practice of yoga.  Classes will include a gentle breathing practice, simple yoga poses using the breath that will stretch, tone and build strength and flexibility in the body and a wonderful relaxation to close to help you feel more grounded.  An introduction to meditation practice may be introduced throughout the course. All our classes include a guided relaxation also known as "Yoga Nidra" to end the class lying comfortably on your yoga mat.  We offer use of cosy warm blankets and eye pillows to help you really relax.

This is a gentle Hatha yoga class and students are guided inwards to breath awareness and the experience of stillness. Yoga movements are flowing and practiced with deep awareness as we connect mind, body and heart in the present moment, bringing awareness to sensations of the body as we move.

The Yoga Sutra by Patanjali: Yoga chitta vritti nirodah’ – ‘yoga is the settling of the mind into silence’ is central with mindfulness through movement and short restful meditation is included focusing on the breath and being quietly with ourselves while soothing the busy mind and bringing you to the moment. Pranayama (Breathing Practices) are explored along with Meditation and Yogic Philosophy. The class will end with a deep guided relaxation (Yoga Nidra known as Yoga Sleep) to send you some grounded and restored.

This class is very suitable for an experienced beginner or who have taken a break from yoga for a while and those who wish to continue to build on their strength and flexibility. This is about refining a way to listen to your body and taking it as gently as you need to.  You will move with an integrated awareness of your body and and mind bringing a deeper awareness of how to embody your practice to move from within.

Modifications are offered to those whom wish move a little deeper into their practice.

Somatic Movement

Somatic movement really helps cultivates balance and well being which restores your body and relaxes your mind.

Restorative Yoga

Restorative Yoga provides deep healing for your body and mind. Learn to explore some gentle restorative movements to gently release inner tension as we connect with ourselves to listen how we can replenish ourselves through a gentle nurturing practice. As we become quieter, we learn to really listen to our body and what it needs to stay balanced and well.  Through these classes, the body and mind rejuvenates with a series of deeply relaxing restorative movements that will gently open and bring balance to the body and mind replenishing your energy.

These gentle postures aid the body to heal using no muscular effort while stimulating the relaxation response in the body helps to reduce stress and may be very helpful for those facing challenges such as anxiety, depression or any other health issues. It may also be very beneficial for those with problems sleeping.

A regular restorative yoga practice also compliments an active yoga practice or those engaging with sporting activities. Anyone can practice restorative yoga, (also known as deep restful yoga) regardless of age, shape or physical condition, even those who are completely new to yoga.

We offer regular scheduled Restorative Yoga as workshops.
